The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to underage protesters who took part in the August 2024 #EndBadGovernance demonstrations.
The ruling, delivered by Justice Obiora Egwuatu on Friday, November 1, sets bail at N10 million for each of the young defendants.
Justice Egwuatu stipulated that each defendant must present two sureties who meet strict requirements.
According to SaharaReporters, one of the sureties must be a civil servant of grade level 15 or higher, with a verifiable address within the court’s jurisdiction, while the other must be a parent of the accused.
The #EndBadGovernance protest, which saw young people calling for improved governance, attracted considerable attention nationwide.
The bail conditions reflect the high-profile nature of the case and underscore the court’s rigorous approach in addressing issues tied to civil activism involving minors.
