The Federal Government, in collaboration with the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Initiative and the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, has officially launched the distribution of 2,000 CNG-powered tricycles aimed at empowering Nigerian youth.
The event, held at the Old Parade Ground in Abuja on Tuesday, was part of the 64th Independence anniversary celebrations.
Michael Oluwagbemi, the Project Director of the Presidential CNG Initiative, stated that the distribution represents a key promise fulfilled by President Bola Tinubu to reduce transportation costs, promote the use of cleaner energy, and create job opportunities for Nigeria’s youth.
“These tricycles, assembled in Shagamu, not only promote economic growth but also contribute to environmental sustainability,” said Oluwagbemi.
“We have trained over 50 young people to assemble these tricycles, and thousands more will be employed through their operation, maintenance, and deployment nationwide.”
The CNG-powered tricycles are set to provide a more affordable, eco-friendly transportation option, while simultaneously generating employment and driving technological innovation within Nigeria.
