The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved the construction of 40 houses for judges in Abuja, as part of its *Renewed Hope Agenda*. The project, announced by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, was approved during a Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu. These houses will be located in the Kantampe District, with 20 allocated to the FCT High Court, 10 to the Federal High Court, and 10 to the Court of Appeal. The initiative aims to provide secure accommodation for judicial officials and is expected to be completed within 15 months.
In addition to the housing development, the project includes infrastructure upgrades, such as access roads and internal road networks, which are designed to improve connectivity to the judicial quarters. This forms part of a broader effort to enhance infrastructure in the FCT, including the development of roads in satellite towns.
Wike also announced the cancellation of a previous contract for the development of Maitama 2 due to delays, and a new procurement process will be launched to address the housing deficit in the area.
