The burial of Ibrahim Lamorde, the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), who passed away in Egypt on Sunday at the age of 61 will take place today.
Lamorde had travelled to Egypt for medical treatment. Reports had it that he died days after undergoing surgery. The announcement of Lamorde's burial was made by Isa Pantami, a former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, through his social media handle on Tuesday. Pantami shared a statement from Lamorde's family, detailing the funeral arrangements.

Born on December 20, 1962, Lamorde began his career in the Nigerian Police Force in 1986. He rose through the ranks to retire as a Deputy Inspector General of Police in 2021. During his tenure as a police officer, he served as the chairman of the EFCC from 2011 to 2015.
The EFCC expressed deep sorrow at the loss of their former chairman, noting that his absence will be keenly felt both within the commission and across the nation.
