Elon Musk’s Transgender Daughter Announces Plans To Leave US After Trump’s Victory
Vivian Wilson, the 20-year-old transgender daughter of billionaire Elon Musk, has announced her decision to leave the United States following Donald Trump’s recent victory in the presidential race.
In a post shared on Threads, Wilson, who legally changed her name and gender in 2022, explained that the political climate under Trump’s return to office had deeply unsettled her.
“I don’t see my future in the United States,” Wilson wrote. “I’ve thought this for a while, but yesterday confirmed it for me. Even if he’s only in office for four years, even if anti-trans regulations don’t materialize, the people who voted for this aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.”
Wilson, born Xavier Musk, had legally severed ties with her father two years ago, adopting her mother’s maiden name, Wilson. In her court filings, she stated, “I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape, or form.”
Musk, a staunch supporter of Trump and the father of 12 children, has been vocal about his strained relationship with Vivian. He publicly accused her of holding far-left views, calling her a “communist” who viewed wealth as inherently evil. Musk also claimed he was misled into supporting her use of puberty blockers, referring to them as “sterilization drugs,” and criticized gender dysphoria as “incredibly evil.”
Vivian, who has been outspoken about her experiences growing up, responded to her father's comments, claiming he had little involvement in her childhood. “He doesn’t know what I was like as a child because he simply wasn’t there,” she said.
“I was relentlessly harassed for my femininity and queerness.” She also expressed frustration at how Musk’s views on queer people reflect his broader views on children.
Her decision to leave the country underscores the deepening rift between father and daughter, as well as the personal and political struggles facing many members of the LGBTQ+ community in a polarized political climate.
