Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has sought the intervention of President Bola Tinubu in his ongoing conflict with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). According to a statement from Bello's media office, signed by Ohiare Michael, the EFCC's actions against Bello are being labeled as a “hatchet job” motivated by undisclosed personal and political interests rather than a genuine effort to combat corruption.
The EFCC had declared Bello wanted, but despite his voluntary appearance at their premises recently, he was allowed to leave, which his media team pointed to as evidence of inconsistency and ulterior motives by the anti-graft agency. They are calling on Tinubu to step in and ensure fairness, arguing that the anti-corruption fight should be impartial and not selective.
