Ebelle community in Edo State was thrown into shock and amusement yesterday as a newly married man, Osamudiame Iyobosa, returned his wife, Edeki, to her parents, citing an unusual complaint about her physical attributes.
Eyewitnesses report that Iyobosa drove to his in-laws’ house in Ubiaja in a green Golf 4, where he informed them that Edeki’s private parts were too wide, describing them as an “expressway.”
He alleged that Edeki’s past relationships must have contributed to the condition, further suggesting that she was unsuitable for him.
This unusual situation quickly became a topic of discussion within the community.
A local palm wine seller near Ubiaja market confirmed rumors about Edeki’s past, claiming she was known as a flirt in the area.
He expressed surprise that Iyobosa, who resides in Benin City, had married her despite her reputation.
Edeki’s parents were reportedly furious at Iyobosa for publicly humiliating their daughter and exposing what they saw as a private family matter.
A witness claimed that Edeki’s mother lashed out, calling Iyobosa a “half-man” for his actions.
The couple had been living together on Upper Mission Road in Benin City before this fallout.
Community members were divided in their reactions, with some siding with Edeki’s family and others suggesting that Iyobosa’s concerns were valid.
This incident has sparked debates in the community, with some questioning the cultural implications of such complaints in marriage and others pointing out the need for better communication and understanding between couples before tying the knot.
