A coalition of 28 Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) has vowed to monitor the compliance of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) with the presidential directive to sell crude oil to Dangote Refinery in Naira currency. The CSOs, who recently toured the Dangote Refinery facility in Lagos, expressed shock at the government's reluctance to support the refinery, despite its potential to liberate Nigeria from fuel importation and forex scarcity. They accused the NNPCL and regulatory agencies of deliberately sabotaging the nation's refineries to maintain their grip on fuel importation. The CSOs plan to set up a situation room to monitor the NNPCL's compliance and will petition the Presidency to adopt Dangote Refinery as a national asset. They also threatened to protest if necessary to ensure the refinery's success.
