A heartbreaking tragedy has struck a local community after a pregnant woman died following a week-long labor, which was exacerbated by her husband’s refusal to seek medical help.
The story, shared on Facebook by a neighbor, Jane Àríké Francis, has left many in shock.
Francis explained that the woman, a mother of two, had previously given birth at home.
However, during her third pregnancy, complications arose, prompting a midwife to suggest immediate medical attention for a cesarean section.
Despite this, the husband rejected the recommendation, insisting that she could deliver at home as she had with her previous children.
The decision to delay medical intervention proved tragic. When her condition worsened, the woman was finally taken to the hospital for the cesarean, but sadly, the baby had already passed away.
A week later, the mother also died due to complications.
"I feel deeply affected by this avoidable tragedy," said Francis. "Her death was unnecessary and a result of her husband's inaction."
The incident has ignited outrage in the community, with many condemning the husband's neglect and stressing the importance of seeking timely medical care during pregnancy.
Local residents are urging families to prioritize healthcare in such critical situations to avoid further tragedies.
