Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has intervened in the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State, which involves a conflict between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and former Governor Nyesom Wike. This crisis has led to conflicting court rulings, prompting the CJN to summon judges involved for further scrutiny.
The National Judicial Council (NJC) has formed a panel, led by a former Court of Appeal justice and including two heads of courts, to investigate these rulings. The CJN has instructed this panel to submit a report by the end of the week. Additionally, the CJN has summoned the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court for questioning on Tuesday to address issues related to these conflicting judgments. This action follows formal complaints made to the NJC, highlighting the need for a comprehensive investigation into the judiciary's role in the crisis.
