After a prolonged leadership crisis that gripped the Bodija Foodstuffs Sellers Association at Bodija International Market, Ibadan, peace has finally been restored with the election of new executives. The resolution of the conflict was marked by a transparent and democratic process, overseen by the President of the Oyo State Market Men and Women Association, Alhaji Sunmaila Aderemi Jimoh.
Jimoh praised Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, for his non-interference approach, which allowed the market association to independently settle its issues. This hands off strategy, according to Jimoh, ensured that the election was devoid of political manipulation.
However, one of the most significant moments of the election ceremony was the recognition of Otunba Seye Famojuro, a key aide to Governor Makinde, for his vital role in mediating and resolving the year long crisis. Famojuro was honored with the title of Atunluto of Bodija Market and received an award of appreciation for his contributions to restoring peace within the association.
In his speech, Alhaji Jimoh emphasized the importance of Famojuro’s diplomatic efforts, which played a crucial role in resolving the situation. We wouldn’t be here today celebrating the swearing in of the new executives if not for the efforts of Otunba Famojuro, who worked tirelessly to expose those who were using his and the governor’s names to push their selfish agenda, Jimoh stated.
Famojuro’s approach was marked by transparency, wisdom, and leadership, as he brought all stakeholders together, ensuring that the truth prevailed. His intervention revealed that neither he nor Governor Makinde had supported the imposition of caretaker committees, as was falsely claimed by some conspirators who sought control of the association.
The ceremony also acknowledged the efforts of key local government figures, including Honourable Seun Olufade, Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government Council, Honourable Ayoade Akeem Adewale, Political Head Administrator of Aare Latosa Local Council Development Area (LCDA), and Honourable Akindele Amos Olaolu, former Political Head Administrator of Aare Latosa LCDA. Their dedication to resolving the crisis was praised for contributing to the peaceful resolution.
