Chief Bode George, former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has called on President Bola Tinubu to reduce the price of petrol to N300 per litre before the Christmas holiday.
Speaking at a press conference in Lagos on Wednesday, George emphasized that such a reduction would bring much-needed relief to Nigerians and help them celebrate the festive season.
George, highlighting the importance of the months of December and January, urged the President to implement the price cut immediately, starting in mid-December and lasting until the end of January.
He suggested that the government could absorb the cost of the reduction, noting that this would foster happiness across the country during the holiday period.
“If Madam First Lady could donate N1 billion to a university, she could also contribute to this cause. It’s time to give back to the Nigerians who voted President Tinubu into power,” George said.
He stressed that the reduction would have a positive impact on Nigerians, easing the financial strain many face during the holidays.
George also touched on the PDP’s internal struggles, stating that the party would overcome its challenges ahead of the 2027 elections.
He emphasized the importance of unity within the party, asserting that individual ambitions should not surpass the collective interests of the party.
In addition, George reflected on the PDP's founding principles, referencing the party’s constitutional commitment to zoning and rotation of party positions.
He criticized political manipulation that has undermined the party's stability, calling for a return to its original values.
"Everything that had been in the South must go to the North, and everything that is in the North must come to the South. This is justice, equity, and fairness," George said, reaffirming his belief in the party's foundational principles.
