The internal crisis within the People's Democratic Party (PDP) is escalating, with the camp of Atiku Abubakar criticizing governors who associate with Nyesom Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). An aide to Atiku, Demola Olarewaju, accused these governors of betraying the party by aligning with Wike, whose influence is seen as disruptive to the PDP's stability.
Olarewaju highlighted that the party's challenges since 2015 can be traced back to the control of party structures by governors, blaming them for major crises. The division within the PDP is particularly evident in Rivers State, where the current governor, Siminalayi Fubara, is at odds with Wike, with different factions within the PDP backing either Fubara or Wike.
This growing feud reflects deeper fissures within the party as it struggles to maintain unity and political relevance.
