Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has declared his willingness to swear by the Quran to affirm his innocence regarding accusations of financial misappropriation during his eight-year tenure. He emphasized his faith in God and expressed his readiness to take an oath alongside other former governors to prove that he did not steal public funds.
In response to the allegations, which include claims of misappropriating over N423 billion, El-Rufai stated that he has entrusted his situation to God, performing prayers to seek divine intervention. He described the ordeal as painful but expressed confidence that justice will prevail. He also criticized the ongoing investigations against his allies by agencies like the ICPC and EFCC, suggesting they were part of an effort to tarnish reputations.
