The Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has indefinitely suspended actress Halima Abubakar, citing her involvement in spreading slanderous rumors about colleagues to bloggers.
The suspension follows a two-year investigation by a secret panel tasked with uncovering the sources behind damaging stories involving Nollywood actors.
According to the AGN, Abubakar was found to have leaked information, including claims of extramarital affairs involving prominent figures in the industry.
As a result, she will face a disciplinary committee to determine further consequences.
During the suspension, Abubakar is barred from participating in any AGN-related activities or filming projects.
The AGN has issued strict instructions to its National and State Chapter Taskforces to enforce the suspension, warning that any breach could lead to more severe penalties.
The Guild also noted that other female members are currently under investigation for similar conduct.
In a statement, the AGN praised the investigative panel's efforts, adding, "The Panel found out that Miss Halima Abubakar was behind the slandering information of our members, associates, and patrons, especially news of extramarital affairs linked with highly placed individuals in the society emanating from the industry."
