Kamil Aransi, Special Adviser on Special Needs to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has responded to recent claims from the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) alleging neglect of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Osun State. Aransi dismissed these accusations, calling them untrue and asserting that his office is actively dedicated to supporting PWDs.
In a detailed statement, Aransi responded to allegations published by an Osun based newspaper, which cited the JONAPWD’s chairman, secretary, and women’s coordinator. The group accused both the deputy governor, Prince Kola Adewusi, and Aransi of neglecting the needs of PWDs. Aransi countered these claims, stating, These allegations are untrue, misleading, and plainly intended to blackmail my office.
Aransi also refuted claims from the ‘One House Development Initiative’ that his office had ignored requests to meet with them. He clarified that his office had received no letters, emails, or messages from this organization. It defies logic that one NGO established only a few months ago would allege neglect by the Osun State government, he added.
Annual Grants and Subvention His office facilitated the release of annual grants and subventions to JONAPWD to support their programs.
Statewide PWD Registration The office undertook a comprehensive registration of PWDs across the state to ensure better representation and support.
Passage of Disability Protection Bill His team played a role in the enactment of the Disability Protection Bill, which has been signed into law by Governor Adeleke.
Health Insurance Coverage All persons with disabilities in the state were enrolled in the Osun Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS) for improved access to healthcare.
Palliative Distribution Hundreds of bags of rice, garri, and maize were distributed to PWDs, providing much needed support during challenging times.
Empowerment Programs His office has empowered PWDs in the state through various programs, including the issuance of an N8.6 million empowerment check to the JONAPWD Farmers group as part of the Osun State Broiler Scheme.
Aransi emphasized his commitment to collaborating with NGOs, welcoming any organizations focused on improving the lives of PWDs. I have a long list of visionary and purposeful foundations with which we collaborate, he stated, inviting more partnerships that align with the government’s mission to uplift PWDs.
Aransi concluded with a reaffirmation of his commitment to supporting PWDs, stating, My team and I are fully committed to the development and advancement of those with disabilities in Osun State. With a series of impactful programs already in place, Aransi and his office aim to continue their efforts to promote inclusivity and opportunity for all in Osun State.
