Twenty-five students of Ajayi Crowther University in Oyo State, Nigeria, have been arraigned in court for the murder of their colleague, Alex Timileyin, who was allegedly beaten to death over a stolen mobile phone. The students, aged between 18 and 34, were remanded in prison until July 8 pending trial. The court charged them with conspiracy to commit felony, murder, and acceleration of death. The prosecution alleged that the students beat Timileyin with planks and electrical wire, leading to his death. The university's security guard and porter were also charged with unlawfully omitting to rescue the victim. The case has sparked outrage, with many calling for justice for the deceased student.
